The statistics could scare anyone. There will be a 165% jump in the number of people who will contract diabetes by 2050. Among risk groups for type 2 diabetes, diet and exercise play a key role whether contracted, as in the fight against disease. For most people who have this condition, this means trying to eliminate the causes of the disease, which could include managing symptoms and visiting specialists regularly.

However, some have chosen to take alternative paths and have found that raw diets and diets with juices effectively fight disease. Raw food supporters have been shown to be able to reduce their need for insulin in 30 days. And new information about green juices shows that some have reduced their type 2 diabetes symptoms in as little as one week using variations of a green juice recipe.

With such quick results that promise to free you from doctors, insulin injections, and a lifetime of health challenges, it’s understandable that some people might be hopeful about the power of juice.

What is type 2 diabetes?

People get type 2 diabetes either because their bodies do not make enough insulin to transport the sugar in the body into the cells, or cells in their body cannot recognize insulin. In other words, the body cannot use the insulin it forms, causing the sugars to remain in the blood instead of entering the cells. This is known as insulin resistance and can lead to long-term negative health problems as the effects of too much sugar in the bloodstream takes its toll on the body.

Diabetes and Juices: What you need to know

But many have found relief from their health problems with green juices and smoothies. The nutrients in healthy vegetable juices promote repair of the body itself, including providing support for insulin resistance. It also supports the immune system and promotes weight loss, another factor in type 2 diabetes.

The green juices and green smoothies have another benefit. They help people get more of those all-important vegetables in their diet, something that many adults (and children) have trouble doing every day because they are not used to eating them. Juicing quickly provides the recommended two to three cups of vegetables per day per person.

Green juice recipes for your conditions

If you are interested in green juices for better health, you can try these recipes. Remember to use all raw / fresh ingredients.

Spinach, celery and kale / kale / collard juice

  • 1 handful or 2 spinach.
  • 2 stalks of celery.
  • ½ c. parsley (stems cut).
  • 3 stalks kale.
  • 2 pears.
  • 1 cucumber.
  • 1 lemon, peeled and cut.

Put all the ingredients in the juicer. You can get extra from the pulp by putting some of it in the juice. Pour over ice.

Cucumber and coriander juice

  • 2 cucumbers.
  • 1 head of romaine lettuce.
  • 1 C. fresh watercress.
  • 1 bunch of coriander.
  • 1 stalk of celery.
  • One lemon’s juice.
  • Slice of ginger.
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper.
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax seeds.

Add everything to the extractor, except the flax seeds and cayenne pepper. Once the juice is made, sprinkle the flax on top of the juice and also sprinkle half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper and mix well.

Celery and apple juice

  • 1 Granny Smith apple.
  • 1 grapefruit / grapefruit.
  • 1 head of kale/ collard greens.
  • 4 stalks of celery.
  • ½ cucumber.
  • 1 lime or lemon.

Put all the ingredients in the extractor and mix.

Why do green juices work so well for diabetes?

Green juices have the most important building block in the plant known as chlorophyll. This substance is similar in structure to the hemoglobin molecule. Because of this, the nutrients in the blood are easy for the body to absorb. This means you don’t have to work as hard to repair damaged cells, helping the body return to a healthy state more quickly.

As you can see, taking green juices gives you many advantages and possibilities rather than limitations, however before starting this diet, never stop consulting with your specialist.
