If you have loaded your body a lot with toxins due to poor diet, perhaps it is time to cleanse your body, especially the kidneys. There are natural diuretics such as parsley, dandelion leaves, celery, and cucumber, among others, that can be used at home in a tonic to improve kidney health. Diuretics are substances that stimulate the kidneys and bladder to produce more urine. This action treats the kidneys by forcing the elimination of toxins from them and from the blood. Do you want to know how? Keep reading that below you will find a kidney tonic designed to boost your health.

Why is kidney health so important?

The kidneys are a pair of organs located in the lower back, one on each side of the spine. They are responsible for filtering and removing waste products from the body (such as urine through the bladder), maintaining healthy bones, and taking care of blood pressure.

As we age we find ourselves at an increased risk that our kidneys work with less performance, but food counts a lot in this regard. Even if you are young, if you do not follow a proper eating style, your kidneys will soon suffer and with it, your entire body.

Kidneys are important because they do three essential things:

The kidneys regulate the water in your body

For your body to function properly, it must contain just the right amount of water. One of the important tasks of the kidneys is to remove excess water from the body or to retain water when the body needs more.

The kidneys remove waste products and help balance minerals in the body.

Many of the substances in the blood and other body fluids must be kept at the correct level for the body to function properly. For example, sodium (salt) and potassium are minerals that come from food. The body needs these minerals for good health, but it must be maintained at certain levels.

When the kidneys are working properly, additional minerals, such as sodium and potassium, leave your body in the urine. The kidneys also help adjust the levels of other minerals, such as calcium and phosphate (which are important for bone strength, growth, and other functions).

The kidneys help remove waste products, such as urea and creatinine, from your body. Urea and other wastes are made when the body breaks down proteins, such as meat. Creatinine is a waste product of the muscles. As kidney function declines, blood urea and creatinine levels rise. The level of creatinine in the blood is a very useful measure of kidney function. It is measured by a simple blood test.

The kidneys produce hormones

Normal kidneys also make important chemicals in your body called hormones. These hormones circulate in the bloodstream as “messengers” and regulate blood pressure, red blood cell production, and the balance of calcium in your body.

Kidney Tonic – Juice to boost your kidneys

Some herbs and vegetables act as diuretics, serving in turn as antiseptics or antimicrobials, and when used, their elimination function simultaneously drags some bacteria. This is especially important if you have a kidney, bladder, or urethral infection, because these natural ingredients can treat the problem, while preventing future incidents.

The following juice is designed to eliminate toxins and improve kidney health.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cucumber, (peeled if not organic).
  • 1 bunch of parsley.
  • 1 bunch of mint.
  • 1 stalk of celery.
  • ¼ lemon (peeled).
  • ½ inch fresh ginger root.

Preparation:

Pass all the ingredients through the juice extractor, except the parsley and mint that you will then grind in the blender with the juice product of the extraction. You can optionally add, for each half a glass of this juice, another half of dandelion leaf tea (dried leaves in boiled water for 10 minutes and then let it cool) which is another great diuretic that stimulates the excretion of urine and support kidney function.
